Gordon Hiebert is one of a select few photographers worldwide specializing in panoramic photography, a technique that captures sweeping, wide-angle views of the landscape. His panoramic images mirror the full scope of human peripheral vision, offering a perspective that standard photos simply cannot achieve. Much of Gordon’s work centers on the Alberta prairies, where he is drawn to the drama of inclement weather, capturing tumultuous skies and wind-swept landscapes that evoke the raw beauty of the region.
Beginning his journey in 1978, Gordon has displayed his work in galleries across Canada. From the outset, he has maintained full creative control, developing his own prints in his color darkroom and even handcrafting custom frames from raw materials. This commitment to craftsmanship ensures that every aspect of his work, from the image to the presentation, is authentically his.
After moving to Alberta in 1989, Gordon became captivated by the province’s vast prairies and rich history. His panoramic format, which he believes is the only way to truly capture Alberta’s grandeur, has become his signature style.
