Archival Giclée Panoramic Print with Handmade Wooden Frame

Size: 12.8″ x 41″

Artist: Gordon Hiebert

Finally, the weather had become interesting again. Gordon could see something remarkable unfolding in the west, so he set off in that direction. As he wandered through the fields, he was fortunate enough to witness an enormous ring cloud approaching rapidly, its swirling edges darkening the sky. Just as it was almost upon him, he managed to capture the breathtaking scene on camera. The extreme wide-angle lens he used gives an illusion of distance, but in reality, the storm loomed much closer—a powerful reminder of nature’s dynamic beauty and unpredictability.

Alberta is known for its unique weather patterns, particularly the formation of supercells—intense thunderstorms characterized by a rotating updraft. These powerful systems can produce severe weather, including large hail, tornadoes, and heavy rainfall. Supercells thrive in the province due to its geography, where warm, moist air from the south collides with cooler, dry air from the north, creating the ideal conditions for these dramatic storms. As Gordon observed the ominous clouds, he was witnessing a natural phenomenon that has fascinated meteorologists and storm chasers alike, reminding him of the wild beauty of Alberta’s landscape.

A miniature framed print, approximately 28 inches in length, is available in the gallery for $90 plus GST.
